I am finally getting some great recordings added to my collection, thanks to some fine folks at the Toto site, and have just received the Tribute to Jeff and a couple of your own albums.. and to think the whole time I lived in CA I was unaware of the enormous talent lurking just up the freeway in LA.. Want to visit the New Baked Potato again soon.. got any gigs coming up in January? Cool site by the way. Peace.

Dave: The c.d. release / birthday party for Larry at Cafe Cordial was a stone groove, my man! As always, your music took me to another world, one whose beauty leaves the shallow, mundane, and spiritually threadbare world we live in far behind. You're one of those rare and exceptional musicians whose music has the power to heal, bring spiritual regeneration, and just generally nourish the soul! When I get depressed and so disgusted with the state of the music biz that I could throw up, when I feel like I want to just throw my guitar and all my gear through a window, all I have to do is listen to you and all the cats you play with and I remember why I play music. For that, I can't thank you enough, David! May your music continue to bring joy to you and all those around you! Shine on! Love, Mike

Hi, Dave. I emailed you with thoughts on the "Tribute to Jeff" CD. I said it then, but I'll put it here. You folks played your fingers off for that record and the love you put into that really shines through. Thanks for giving it your all and playing the way you did. Keep it cookin'!

Wow! What a great tribute to the best studio drummer ever!! Jeff was my mentor, inspiration and hero when it came to drumming and percussion. Each note he played had expression and charisma. Each note also had a groove no one has ever had. I still think of his influence on my years of drumming and will never forget the man... Long Time, No Groove

Creatchy, My wife and I saw you and the gang at the Lobotomys show Friday night at the Baked Potato. You absolutely rocked the house! Even though it was hotter than Hades in there, you all just kicked it in. I swear Simon had to have lost 20 pounds in the process. This is the third time I've gotten to see you play in various settings and as always it has been an unforgettable experience. Maybe even more important though, is your graciousness toward your fans. I think I appreciate that the most. Thank you for a great time and best of luck with Ms. Cole. I look forward to flying over and seeing you kick it out again.

Hi David ! Just wonna tell you a little story about life. Manfred, Thomas, Karin and myself were playing at a nice location on a big lake in Upperaustria a couple of weeks ago. We played the "Let's stay together"-tune from the tribute album, Manfred (guitar) and I (keys) just talked about who should play the solo, I said: "Why not play a bass solo?" and Thomas started with a bass solo, leaned himself into the curve of the verse when suddenly Karin's Handy rang and pushed him completely out of the beat and of the curve of the verse. Our reaction, because we all went off beat, was a big laugh and I gave the Handy to Thomas and said:" For you Thomas, it's John Pena!"

Mr. Garfield, I'm a vocalist / voice teacher from Philadelphia Pa., living in Tokyo and working all around Japan. I happened upon your home page while perusing Mooki Obata's. I'm impressed with your career and seeming approach to the music. I'll search for your recordings in the stores, and I'll check your schedule for appearances in Japan. Please contact me if you are coming to Japan. Thanks, Nathan

Mr Garfield, I want to thank u for a beatiful tribute album. Tribute To Jeff really carries the spirit of Jeff Porcaro. To me, as a musician, the passing of Jeff felt like losing a companion, a brother in arms. When I heard your album with all the great contributions by the 'friends' it really felt good. Good compositions performed very well by great musicians. My Heart Wants To Know says it all... Thanks & all the best to you, George Daams

Hello Dave.... I just wanted to say that I enjoy the the music that you have played on, especially Los Lobotomys and Toto. I also had the opportunity to see your trio perform at the BAked Potato a few years back.... It was some smokin stuff. LL should consider performing on the East Coast whenever you guys have time. I know that some of the venues out here might not pay so well but it would be nice to see some of that spicy LA fusion....... (BRING SIMON PHILLIPS OR VINNIE COLAIUTA WITH YOU) if you can......... Thank you for the kick ass music... PEACE!

Dave Thank you so much for your inspired direction on the Jeff Tribute Collaboration journey. I can only imagine how tough and emotional it must have been. But on the other hand it was a celebration of music and life for those whose lives he touched, to honour him in the way that you all did. I absolutely love both L.L. albums. It took me over 9 months to get the first one once ordered (Down Under is pretty isolated at times). Hope you and the LL guys can get down here one day. It would be en event certainly if you could. Please let me know if you do. I'll be there, front row seats. Take care, keep groovin. Long live Jeff and Carlos!! Andre

Karizma '99 4/3/99 Baked Potato 2!!!!!!!!!! What a cool show. I finally got to see Karizma in all their glory and they did not disappoint. Not only did they play all my favorite tunes, the band was explosive. I kept thinking I was going to have to request a favorite tune but they played 'em all. Old favorites like "Sting" & "Tink" and some killer cuts off of Mike Landau's Tales from the Bulge - "I don't care" (aka Landau = GOD) & " I'm buzzed" made for the perfect set. There was mention of the show being recorded (perhaps a live album?) - if this makes it to CD, GET IT!! you won't be disappointed. Thanks for the music Creatchy -Brandon

You ARE the cat, man. Caught your show last Friday at the Potato. Both sets, couldn't leave, didn't want to. I've seen you play so many times, but I've got to say: "Ouch, babe..." You're chops were really in evidence, David. And the opening and finishing tunes with you, Pena, and Weckl were exhilerating! You cats were blasting. The vocals from Alex Ligertwood were way tasty. It was a groovin, fun thing. You truly are the Grooving Fusion Hippie Love-God of the Next Millenium. Love, Bruce.

David, What an EXCELLENT performance you and the rest of Lobotomys did at the new Baked Potato, in Hollywood, on 1/2/99. Man it was great to hear L.L. again. I got to sit near Simon's set, enabling me to study his incredible pedal work. He is such an awesome, all-around drummer. And a great guy too! [all of you are!]. Thanks for performing "Party in Simon's Pants". That was very exciting. I've waited so long to see L.L. perform it. Ahhhh! I overheard one gentleman tell you that he and his friends had flown in from St. Louis to see you guys that night. Wow! Thanks again for a fabulous, fabulous show. Andrew
